Top 10 Jay-Z featured verses

10. Missy Elliot – One Minute Man Remix: He DISSED the woman he ended up marrying! LOL The irony of this verse’s existence is what puts it over the top for me. And besides that, the verse was very ill indeed.

“I’m not trying to give you love an affection. I’m trying to give you sixty seconds of perfection.”

9. Beyonce – Crazy In Love: Of all of his collaborations with his wife, this verse stands out the most because of the as-always cockiness. The rhyme schemes are sick, point blank.

“Ever since I made the change over platinum, the game’s been a wrap. One”

8. Rick Ross – Free Mason: Jay (momentarily smh) shut down the ridiculously jumbled rumors of him being affiliated with Freemasons, devil worshippers, and other retarded conspiracy nonsense.

“Bitch, I said I was amazing, not that I’m a Mason. It’s amazing that I made it through the maze that I was in.

7. Memphis Bleek – Is That Your Chick?: The subliminals at Nas and/or Biggie were just the icing on the cake. You know Jay is blacking out on a song when he spits more than one verse on someone else’s song. The rapid fire flow was so nice that he even outshone Twista, which is 99% impossible.

“How foul is she? And You wifed her. Shit, I put the rubber on tighter.”

40 Things Tupac Shakur Would Have Done By 40

June 16, 2011 marks what would have been the 40th birthday of rap’s late, great fallen son, Tupac Amaru Shakur. His short but polarizing life – mixed with brilliant music and acting, personal triumphs and tragedies, and mysteries yet to be unraveled – is still fodder for media hounds and fans across the globe even today.

On June 15, 2011, a Jimmy Henchman associate named Dexter Isaac made the iconic Tupac a global headliner again when he gave his alleged confession to AllHipHop.com about committing the first Tupac shooting in 1994. Some speculate that the ensuing rumors and beefs may have led to both Tupac’s Vegas murder in September 1996 and Notorious B.I.G.’s L.A. murder the following March. Truth is, we may never know the full story.

All told, Tupac is a real-life persona who lived his life to the fullest. His name is nearly always listed among the Top Rappers Dead or Alive by just about everyone, and he left behind a catalog of thoughtful, controversial, raunchy, and political albums that will live on for generations to come.

On this bittersweet Hip-Hop born day, AllHipHop.com pauses to celebrate Tupac’s life and to imagine – in both a funny and nostalgic way – what he might have accomplished had he lived to see age 40:

Best Verse: Nas ‘It Ain’t Hard To Tell’ (1994)

When listening to Illmatic, I always await my favourite track on that album, ‘It Aint’ Hard To Tell’ with a certain excitement.

To me, it’s the moment that Nas throws social commentary out the window, jumps on the mic and shows off his lyrical prowess and clever wordplay, he rhymes within rhymes, within rhymes again. He’s hard to touch on this track, IMO.

I think the 2nd verse, is potentially my favourite. But I sway between Verse 1 & 2, at the moment I’m going with Verse One due to the introduction and lines like:

‘My mic check is life or death, breathin a sniper’s breath
I exhale the yellow smoke of buddha through righteous steps.’

But what’s yours?

Deep like The Shinin’, sparkle like a diamond
Sneak a uzi on the island in my army jacket linin
Hit the Earth like a comet, invasion
Nas is like the Afrocentric Asian, half-man, half-amazin
Cause in my physical, I can express through song
Delete stress like Motrin, then extend strong
I drank Moet with Medusa, give her shotguns in hell
From the spliff that I lift and inhale, it ain’t hard to tell

Kanye Performs At Gil Scott-Heron’s Funeral

Kanye paid his respects to Renaissance man, Gil Scott-Heron by performing his track, “Lost In The World/Who Will Survive In America” during a memorial service today at Riverside Church in Harlem.

Doubtful that footage was allowed, but according to the NY Daily News, ‘Ye hugged Scott-Heron’s family following the performance.

Ye was also the lone sample on Heron’s last release, Im New Here, where Gil sampled Flashing Lights.

He supposedly gave him the sample for free as well.
